Project 7:
Collecting and sharing words and stories
Materials
Paper
Pencils, Rubbers, Sharpeners
Dictaphone
Supporting software
Batteries
Connecting cable
Rationale
Pupils will be asked to write down comments, thoughts and memories in and around the school.
Parts of what they have written could then be selected to be read or whispered and recorded by another pupil, or even an adult, so it is shared and directly
experienced.
These whispered thoughts could then form a whispering trail installed and hidden around school that pupils have to listen for. This will help to develop
listening skills that support literacy.
Pupils could also write about a selected personal object of their own. Words and comments could then be selected and read or whispered by someone
else in order to form whispering stories that accompany the object selected.
This could form the basis for further development in areas such as creative writing, reading and ‘emotional literacy’.
The Task
Pupils could be focussed on:
1. A simple sentence structure like ‘The…….where I …………” (pupils could fill in the blanks.
2. Pupils could be focussed on an area, an object, an incident or an individual to write about.
3. Pupils focus on a selected object they have brought in and write the story of that object, as well as a list of descriptive words.
