I have worked as a visual artist and creative educator in schools for ten years and have devised, delivered and evaluated numerous projects with schools, community groups, after school schemes, pupil referral units and hospital schools. I have worked with all key stages and I have collaborated with a number of organisations including The Whitechapel Art Gallery, The Chisenhale Gallery, The National Gallery and The Crafts Council.
My arts practice looks at aspects of my cultural identity (British–Asian) using collage, photography and drawing. I am interested in narratives and in constructing hybrid characters, which belong to many different histories.
I enjoy exploring projects that work with themes of identity, home, journeys and communication. I like to allowing participants to use self-expression and I have recently become interested in text as a visual medium. |
