My practice involves using educational drama to assist learning and, as such, looks to establish a relationship between form and content. In effect, this means that the drama may be movement text or role-based. One of my most recent projects was visually based; in The City of Possibilities Project, children captured photographic images of their city and, coupled with a performance piece, used these to create a dialogue about their relationship with, and ambitions for, their city.
I have experience of educational settings, gained as a teacher of English and drama in secondary schools from 1987 to 1995.
Subsequently I worked in schools and the wider community through running Key Drama, an after-school drama club for 6–18 year-olds.Since 2004 I have worked as a practising freelance artist and creative advisor.
When not working in schools or cities you'll find me close to mountains!
