Introduction
Steve Downey working with Sheering School

Steve worked on numeracy and problem-solving skills with the
staff and pupils of Sheering School. In addition, they addressed a
number of other issues which the school was interested in
confronting. The aims of the project are listed here.

1. Develop pupils’ thinking and creative skills across the curriculum.
2. Develop maths and numeracy skills, linking them other areas of the curriculum and topic themes.
3. Develop pupils’ self confidence and their ability to take risks, work
independently and as part of a group.
4. Develop ICT skills, particularly related to digital art and photography.
5. Get pupils working in groups vertically across ages.
6. Involve parents.
7. Provide stimulus for pupil with SEN.
8. Contribute to staff’s CPD.
9. Create finished artwork/s to enhance the school and celebrate the
achievements of the pupils.

The evaluation, completed by the team of artist, teacher and pupils,
is available elsewhere on the site - see the links below.

Steve carried out two major projects: the Water World Project and the
Pyramids Project. He has provided a number of presentations and
