Steve Rogers working with St Lukes School
Introduction
Steve Rogers has been working with St Luke’s School mainly on the idea of Mazes and Labyrinths.
The school has explored the ancient Greek story of Theseus and the Minotaur, a monster which was imprisoned in a labyrinth by King Aegeus. They have
explored different types of mazes and labyrinth and created their own.

Project work included:
• Printing
• Scaling up
• Building a labyrinth in the school grounds
• Multiplication mobiles
• Workshops with all years on pyramids using rolled up
newspaper and parcel tape
• Workshops on Christmas decorations using plaster and clay
“Maths has a conceptual framework, but so in many
respects has Contemporary Art. However many (most)
teachers see it as a craft, and by Year 2 or 3 pupils have
decided that they are good or not at Art in the same way
they have with Maths. I am struggling with the question
of how to stop this happening.” Steve Rogers
